    Comets are clearly superior.
I mean...LOOK at them. They are beautiful.

Thanks. I wish i could take credit for the idea, but the guy we bought it from said the guy he bought it from did it. and unfortunately, it had to go first thing. it was starting to peel and water was getting in there. it would've been like a vinyl roof only over the whole car, decreasing the value by rusting it out untill it was worth about 1500. :biglaugh:
I don't really mind people thinking that about our cars all that much. that's what made it possible for me to get a running maverick for 500 dollars with almost no rust. none in the floor pans, just a tad under the hood lip, and that's about it. even the headliner is nice. all it needs is an interior, paint job, and a tune-up and she's ready to roll. :D:D:D

[IMG]I live in Calgary, have been to numberous car shows and never, ever once have i seen another car like mine (72 comet). You see 100 mustangs at a show of 1000 cars.
that is what makes the mav/comet worth more. There arn't any out there, and there are becoming less every day.

When I was 14 i figured it was a nessesity that I have a car. Of course I wanted a mustang, cause who at that age has their smarts about them.
My dads uncle had the comet for sale, so i purchased it.
It was my daily driver when I turned 16, and even at that point i didn't appreciate the car for what it was.

Thankfully I was unable to see it (4000 is what I was asking) and ended up parking it at my folks for 10 years.
Now that I have the car back, I am very very pleased that noone did buy it and that I still have it.

I will Never Ever sell my Comet!! (BTW, Comets have nicer smiles)

although i admit the comet doesn't do it for me as much as a mav, I would rather have either than a new car and most of the other muscle cars. only other car i regret not still having is the wifes 68 cougar, and even that used to get snide remarks from the mustang boys. i also had a mustang guy try to tell me he was going to steal my disc brake assembly off the grabber. I politely reminded him that nevada was a right to carry state.... :)

When a person starts paying your bills, then listen to him and do what he says. Otherwise, take opinions with a grain of salt. Everyone has one.

I own Mustangs, Cougars, a Pinto, a Maverick, and a Comet. Oh yeah, and also an Explorer and an F350. 10 all together. It's all good. I have always liked cars that were a little different. The Cougars get the same type of treatment as the Mavericks and Comets by some Mustang people. Even my Mustangs are not the common ones. Different is good.

I buy old cars I like, not because I think they are a good investment. If you are buying them for investments, you need to rethink your ideas. Very few will end up profit centers.

Ya see for me i like Mavericks and Comets, now that's no big surprise since i'm here on this board but yet still i like to be different from everyone else. I have always liked Comets more than Mavericks but only a little bit more. I long ago decided that i wanted a Comet first and foremost but i have always liked the front end look of the Maverick so that is why my car has both. I like to be just a little different, now with this in mind if someday i do change my Comet to the small bumpers (oh my) i will most likely go back to a Comet hood and grill because the Comet front looks pretty good with the tiny bumpers ( i owe this to Derek50comet as i think his Comet with the small bumpers looks great). The funny thing with all of this is that even though alot of Mustang guys can be real a$$ho1es not once have i had one of them hassle me about the fact that my Comet has a Maverick front but there have been members on this board and the other board that have had negative comments about it. Now this is all fine and dandy as this IS an open forum but i thought the purpose of all of this is the fact that all of us are fans of Mavericks and Comets. There are some cars on here i could say i don't like so much but i will not say anything negative to them about their cars as i see no purpose in it and i'm to much of a fan of these cars to really dislike any of them, as i said - i like different and not all these Mavericks and Comets need to be numbers matching perfect show room cars. Be different, really different!(y)
    Just my 2 cents worth.

    Mavericks......worthless????

The next time you run into this guy tell him this...."Ford sold more Mavericks in their first year than they did Mustangs in their first year"....and I'm certain other Maverick owners will back that up:drive::burnout::bouncy::thumbs2:
