stumped. and frustrated. putting my hedman hedders in, which is a fight. i had to remove a linkage from the trans to steering collumn, what is it? can i drive with out it? because it would have to be tweaked to clear header. second is, the power steering ram doesn't clear the header.i had to remove the ram mount 3 bolts, to put in the header, and now i cant re attatch the ram. its off by maybe an inch to inch 1/2.. i feel like throwing in the towel
theres a bracket for the power stearing ram that you need to get. the linkage is how the transmission is shifted from the colum if you dont have a floor shifter. you will need to get a floor shifter or get really custom with the rod or do a cable set up.
Is your car a floor shift or column shift? You will need a drop bracket for the steering ram. All of the header companies sell them. They are also at the Mustang supply houses and ebay.
i have a floor shift. factory. but there was still a shift linkage on the steering colomn.. i read about the drop bracket, thought i'd give it a shot with out one. i hope vic hubbard sells it.. thank you guys i feel bit better about this now. so i can remove that linkage?
That's for the column lock. I removed the one on my first 74 years ago, but wired it up so it wouldn't move while I was driving.
you should be able to leave the linkage off. the back up lights and nutral safty switch probly wont work. there are switches that mount on the trans that you could get and wire into the wires going to the switch at the base of the colum
look at my headers! i need to raise the suspension a bit. i cant leave the driveway. this sucks. i like my car low.http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3542/3342421891_6dc9b22db9_o.jpg
Skidplates?.....but honestly, I wish the headers would tuck in on these cars, then I wouldn't have that problem either.
