I am helpin my neighbor swap a 302 to a 351 in his 89 full size bronco... ok, i know its not a mav but its is about that 302 that i have to give hommage to. Before you look at the pics, know that the guy that used to have this bronco DROVE IT HOME!!!! he was peed of at it when it started knocking while mud ridin so he pinned it too the floor and roder home, which was over 3 miles away!!

It destroyed the rear half of the motor, notice the cam, lifters, rods, pushrods and various pieces of block all swimming around in there. AND IT STILL RAN!!! gotta love a ford... itll take a crap, but she'LL TAKE U HOME!!

:yikes: HOLY COW!! That, my friend, is gruesome.

That is amazing that it could still run after all that. I still can't believe it.

That is awesome that it still ran ... mulched it up pretty good there.

The original 302 ran at least the last 20,000 miles of its life with a cracked piston skirt... daily driving and bracket racing. Didn't know it was cracked at the time, just that one side sounded odd when I put dual exhaust on it. Eventually it got tight and didn't want to idle anymore when warmed up. Gotta' love 'em...

I have seen a few close to that, but that one is bad. I bet the oil smelled pretty sour/scorched. The oil pump was working overtime trying to keep up with that mess.
