FINALLY... get to play with my new compressor again... :bouncy:

I bought it late last year and didn't have enough toys to plug into it before winter struck.

But I got a used orbital sander for $10.00 then blew $25.00 on a buffing sponge and attacked my hood again... I had clear coated the hood with spray cans to get the colour up but it was pretty rough and had ZERO shine... after a rub down with 1000 grit paper and buffing it is actually starting to shine... I know fer sure because I was sun-blind today and had to wear sunglasses... makes me look so kewl.

And I opened up the air passages in these plastic speaker cups so now I can actually crank the stereo ALL THE WAY UP and hear it (they were closed to keep water off the speakers - a.k.a. rusty trunk - but created a lot of distortion). So bad I PO'ed someone off in traffic today with the Led de Zeppelin. :party5: my tunes v.s. their cel phone

It was a balmy 6C today - warm enough to polish but not warm enough to paint - so I can't play with the spray guns just yet... but I have a whole tub of air tools now and I'm itchin to play with em all.

Here's this weekends projects if the snow and ice stay away... rebuild the collapsed canopy hiding my other Comet, polish the red one (again) and get rid of that van to make room for another Comet.

And yes... I'm 45 and I still have two boxes with my toys cars and Lego... and no I'm NOT SHARING.:p

Legos are awesome, as well as Mavericks/Comets and Led Zeppelin!
I hope you were blasting either Heartbreaker or Black Dog!

Right on man. I just put a new compressor on layaway. Getting prepped to be able to repaint my Maverick. I have been getting kinda pissy because of the weather myself. Its been too cold to be able to do any descent bodywork.

Is it a BIG ONE?... all I could afford was an 8 gal 1.5HP and - like everyone said - spend 2x the money and you'll never regret it. 2HP 20 gal (max. on 120VAC) is suggested - I have to wait a lot with the orbital buffer but (I'm patient) it still did a splendid job. I'll be doing touch ups with a little sprayer but will have to rent something bigger to paint my other car.

I bought a bump hammer and dolly kit to start my bodywork recently and started hammering panels in the basement where it's warmer (it's fun and pretty satisfying to straighten a panel the old fashioned way!) and the hammering makes my girlfriend's ears ring after a while but she'll REALLY love listening to my compressor chug endlessly when I start on bodywork as well.

    Good luck with yours!

That's what I am replacing is the 8 gal 1.5 hp compressor. I have sprayed a lot of jobs with that compressor (am a journeyman drywaller), but am finally tired of waiting on the little guy to keep up. I put a 2 hp 20 gallon compressor on layaway. It is used, but the price makes it worth it. It is a Craftsman and should be a descent compressor. I tried using the die grinder with a sanding disc on it the other day to strip some paint, that was a lesson in frustration with the little compressor, it would run for 15-30 seconds and then I would wait a minute for the compressor to recover lol.

I have a 1.5 horse 13 gal Sears compressor that's probably as old as I am, but I do so love it. Nice and quiet too. Also, I still have my Legos and I credit them for much of my technical/mechanical fascination. I still play with them too. Now that I have a son I can do that and nobody thinks it's weird!

I have a really small compressor. It's enough to inflate tires & hold valves up, when I'm replacing valve springs. As far as Legos, I don't have them anymore. But, look out for, Hot Wheels & Match Box cars. I have a ton of those, & I still collect them. I have 2 boxes full. I don't keep them in the package. I plan on building a town, on a big piece of plywood & mounting them there. It will definitely have a drag strip & Mavericks.....

SWEET!!!! gonna have to make it a weekend so i can join!

I just started using a compressor myself and the five million twists of the wrench it saves me taking off and putting on an intake manifold made it worth ALL the money and some... i must be getting lazy in my old age

Me too! Me too! You have more dinky cars than me, so maybe I *will* share after all... I will tell the border guards that I am taking a bucket of Lego and a box of toys cars to go play with some friends in Washington, and I will have nothing to declare upon return except perhaps for a few

    "trade-sies"

since boys tend to like other guys' toys.
