hey guys, i can not find this electrical problem for anything. i have replaced the battery, the alternator, the starter solenoid, and the voltage regulator and still no results. the car has to be jump started and it runs fine, but when i shut it off it will not start up. the battery just clicks when i turn the key. what am i missing?
Are you getting adequate voltage from the ignition switch in start mode to trip the solinoid??? is your ignition switch good???Do you have enough grounds.battery to engine block...engine block to chassis...etc...
Did you clean the ground and battery connections when you replaced the cables? (If you're attaching the neg jumper cable to anything other than the neg batt term you could be bypassing a bad ground when you're jumping it). Sometimes a new battery is bad. Can you get it checked at someplace other than where you bought it? Is your battery running down? Check the voltage across the battery terminals when the car isn't running. You should get 12+ VDC. Is your alternator charging? Check the voltage across the battery terminals with the car running. You should get 14+ VDC.
wires, spark plugs, rotor, distributor cap, ignition modual, FUSE????? oh wate... it starts when jumped....... yellow box???
you need to find out why this is happening... turn the key to the ...on position...jump the two little post on the...solenoid...if car starts then it is an...ignition switch...problem.if it doesn't, it's the...solenoid...or starter problem...(be it they are bad or bad ground...) i have a ground strap from one off my starter bolts to the frame.. as always...have fun finding it...:Handshake
Might be the starter. I'd change it to the high torque starter, if you replace it. Mine was giving me fits, and it was a new starter.
my grandfather had the same problem with his f-150 and he replaced his battery cables and now it runs fine.
