Hello everyone, just decided to join because I believe since I own a Maverick this would be a good place to meet people with common interests and hopefully find people around my area as well. I want to keep my Maverick simple, since this is one of the reasons why I got it, but also give it a nice modern look. I live in Austin TX and have only met two other guys with daily driver Mavericks. Of what I have been hearing we do not have a local Maverick club and it would be nice to have one to learn more about the options available, tricks, and swaps. Since I've purchased my maverick about a month ago I have repaired the brakes & power steering, found some donor body parts locally, and purchased a set of bullitt 17s from a 2008 mustang GT. I believe these wheels will give it a wider stance with better traction than the stock 14" wheels it came with plus a better look. I'm fixing this 4dr Maverick for my wife and I hope to find a two door Maverick for myself soon.
Austin is a great place. I can't wait till Barton Springs opens up. The temp has to be at least 100 tho cause the water is COOOLLLD.
Welcome! You will find this site very helpful as you rehab your Mav. Austin is my favorite city, went to school there and loved every minute of it.
Welcome. I also spent time in Austin and I sure remember Barton Springs. Cold, clear water for sure. What about Bee Caves Rd. Maybe Bat Caves. Been a while. I think that is the road that the Texas Tumbleweed Restaurant was on. It was a good ways out of the city. Man I loved that place. Wife and I would go eat there about once every two months. Looked down over Austin at night. Sure was pretty. I just brought home my 72 Maverick today so maybe we can help each other. clint
to this board. there are several people who live in TX.who comes to mind is DAB.He has a hole pile of mav/comets and his whole family drives them. He is or was the TX MCCI rep.chk him out.
This site has been very helpful, i stayed up late reading threads of everything that can go wrong with my maverick, interchangable parts, and stock parts for my maverick. I've noticed not that much info on a 76 4dr mav. most of the info is for real early 70s grabbers. By DAB do you mean Doug? I met him by phone before joining the club. That reminds me to call him, i haven't had a chance this week. I've been sick with something that feels like a bad cold. i hope it's not the flu. I can't afford to miss work, it's bad enough my hours have been cut. Thanks again for the welcome and if any of you are in Austin "Hit me up"
Welcome to the board, RatRodRivett! I just checked my phone messages and saw that you had called me this afternoon. I was out working on my T-Bird, of all things Give me a call when you're feeling better and we can get together. Doug AKA "DAB" DougBauer@TexasGrabber.com
