I didnt want to step on CONFUSED72 thread about Grabbers and cloning, but wanted some input on how people feel about it. My 72 has all the interior makings of a Grabber with highback buckets, floorshift, deluxe door panels, but on the outside it lacks the sport mirrors, hood, rear spoiler and grill and of course the stripe package. I have all the items to clone it with the exception of stripes but I have mixed feelings about changing its looks but love the sportier look of the Grabber, I dont think stripes would look good on it because of the color of the car. Here are a couple shots of the car, interior doesnt look the same now because I added carpet and sport steering wheel. Go ahead and let me have with your thoughts
LEAVE IT ALONE! that mav is way too nice to clone it into a grabber maybe give it a little more power and keep the outside just like it is that would be awesome!
i'm painting my mav a dark blue pearl and i'm adding black grabber stripes, but i've also been thinking about white stripes...
I seem to recall you getting a Marti report on this car. How rare was it? Otherwise....once "cloned" to look like a Grabber...it would actually be sportier than most Grabbers considering the interior and wheels.
I want those seats lol i want to clone a 72 grabber with my 73 maverick will be a while before it is a perfect clone though
it's your car, do what you like. I'm thinking Dodge RT style stipes when mine is all done just to confuse people
I love your 72 the way it is!! But...what value does a stock Maverick really have? To some of us,that have spent years collecting parts & cars, the real odd ball cars are awesome things, custom ordered from the dealership by a single person, not just a stock package order, really a one of a kind, rare car. Being into Mavericks as long as I have, I appreciate what your car is, and what it can become. But, it's your car, and it can always be returned to the way it was stock, easily, and in the meantime it'll have more of a mass appeal. With the exception of one other 73, yours is the only car I know of like that, bucket seats, and rubber mat. Who wants a rubber mat?? it's not a truck. Why not upgrade it, and give the car the attention that it deserves and enjoy the car for what it is. I love Mavericks, and their history, but my car isn't stock, and I don't pass it off as so (contrary to the beliefs of a few people). I built what I believe to be the best of both worlds, and used all best stuff to do it. Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value...
I like the car the way it is. And that's saying something coming from me, because I can almost always find SOMETHING I'd change on a car if it were mine, no matter how nice it is
1 of 218 with these paint/trim codes It was repainted in 99 to a color as close as possible to stock but it is a touch darker and clear coated and of course we all know the wheels are not original
I would leave it alone. I think it looks awesome the way it is. Sometimes simplicity gets the point across.
Your car your choice, i think it looks great and that's after looking at it on the calendar for a month. I think (if i were you but i'm not) if this beauty was mine i would leave it as is only maybe change or upgrade a few creature comforts for the car. Either way your Maverick is a one of the nicer ones i have seen around.
Mike does your car have a 6 digit DSO #??? My interrior is the same as yourse (delux)but mine had the delux 2 spoke steering wheel and a 3 spd stick on the floor.Plain janes like ours arent so plain I guess.Do what you want with it...I am with mine!!!
