What is the correct way to lube a ball joint or tie rod end?

    Do I need to jack up the car before pumping the grease....? :huh:

    (never done it before but just bought the gun)

    Sometimes it helps to jack up the car by the frame so the wheels will extend giving you more room to get in there to the zerks. But you don't HAVE to have it up.

    13-15 then :16suspect. Some u-joints don't have them.

    when they dont have them, make them ;-) , it will save you tons of time plus you would really hate for that drive shaft to drag around and slap your floorboards and possibly ripping your end yokes. Also, if u-joints begin to wobble it could bust your transmission's rear seal.

    I see you're not a dedicated drag racer. :D Grease fitting-less U joints are stronger than those with fittings. And they last just as long. The ones on my 95 E150 van had 150,000+ miles on em when I sold it. And they showed no signs of giving up.

    That comment was directed to the daily drivers. Dedicated drag racers check all that before each race and many change them after each race, so there is no need for grease nipples.

    Nope, I am not a dedicated drag racer. The closest to drag racing was back in the day in a 20 mile stretch of asphalted road. I owned a ratrodded 71 GTO with a sb400 4speed m21 and 3sp rear out in the backroads. people don't get mad at me for saying this, it could have been the drivers, but when I would hit 45 I would floor the peddle and pop the gear and smoke the foxbody mustangs with 302 5.0Ls. This was back in the late 80s. Then I would get chased by police and loose them in the country dirt roads. I also had a 1982 monte carlo that we popped a bb454 auto-trans, this car was alot of fun. For some reason cops hated these cars. It must have been these experience that made me not much of a fan of the 302. I do love the 351W, all the BigBlock FE ford engines, and all the FORD I6es including the I6 308 from the 50s.
