    1. Ok...here is my plan. I am going to take all the I6 clutch frame mount off the I6 car and put it on the V8 car. Then I am going to use a 69 mustang z-bar and modify it to fit the I6 frame mount. Will this work or is there an easier way??? Do I need a v8 frame mount or are they they same for will the mod be pretty much straight forward. This is all I have to work with.....do I need something else?

    2. Would it be easier to use the complete I6 setup and weld on the lower portion of the mustang z-bar to the I6 z-bar to fit the toploader bell housing? (this sounds easier)

    302
    top loader

Advice please....this is driving me crazy. Thanks.

What did your toploader come out of? Mine came out of a 81 capri so I went with a mustang cable set up. It was pretty easy. removed pedal box, drilled a hole for the transfer tube and mustang clutch. I searched and found another member had done it this way but i dont remember his name. I have pictures of both pedal boxes and then the maverick box with the mustang clutch pedal in it. I have a little trimming to do to the wiper motor bracket which I didnt think I was going to have to do.

Don't know about '69 Mustang linkage, but I'm using '66 289 Mustang linkage in mine. Also using the original Mav 6 cylinder frame mount. Got the block stud mount from the same Mustang that donated the linkage. The early Mustangs and 6-cyl Mavs used the same diameter bushings, V8 Mavs had the goofy 2-piece z-bars and huge bushings.

BTW, the 6 cyl. frame bracket that was in my Mav had the stud swaged into the bracket. It broke loose after awhile, so I pressed it back in and welded it on the back side. You might want to do that ahead of time.

It looks like I will be going with the 6 cyl setup and modifying the lower bar to work.... This is the last hurdle to get my car on the road!!!

When I first put a 302 in mine, back in the early 80's, I use my 6 cyl set up. I believe the lower arm on the Zbar was the only thing I had to modify. It worked like a charm for many years.

Pollard, if you decide not to cut it up and go a different route, I have a 69 Mustang itching for a 4 speed conversion.

Sorry, most of it has been parted out and is gone. I do have the complete/original (air cleaner to oil pan and fan back) 351W that I am putting up for sale and some other misc parts.

Already got a 351 that needs rebuilding. Gonna make a 393 stroker with the Edelbrock RPM package on it.

I think my FMX will explode!

Do you still have the clutch pedal assembly, or are you using it in your Mav?
