well i wanted to post a big thank you to all of the members who helped me out during my ebay ordeal. in the end with the good lords help it all worked out. after all of the cancelled bids and me loosing the auction at the price of 6800.00 i ended up getting a call from the owner of the car telling me that the winning bidder backed out and he offered me a second chance offer at my high bid of 5000.00 so i got a #s matching 71 grabber with a 3 speed on the floor 302 v8. he was the second owner and the car was sold in his state originaly so it has always been a carolina car. the car was painted 4 years ago only on the outside. the stripes are decals on the sides and the hood was painted and the hood is not correct as far as the paint. the car had one rust issue. there was a repair on the lower part of the rear 1/4 and the hood lip inside was repaired from rust. the car when you look at the pics looks like it has overspray but the new bright pictures he sent tonight show that is is just the paint under the hood and jambs is all original and fadded. the paint is real nice and it was ppg base clear. the motor and drivtrain has 103,550 original miles. no smoke or oil leaks and only light lifter noise for a few minutes when you start it if the car has sat for a week or so. dash is nice, dash pad was cracked and he had a new one in the box for me. he also set me up with a really nice exstra rust free grabber hood for 200.00 i decided to get it just in case i need one down the road. well i will post pics as soon as i get her home. should be here by end of next week. thanks again tim

I hope it all works out for you. Seller is definately suspect of shill bidding in my book - just classic signs with the bidding running up to over $11,000 and then ..... OOOOPPPS ... the buyer backed out in the end ....... :(

Good luck - I take it you are picking up the car in person?

you know in the past i have always wondered why people get so into these chat forums. well now i know why. you guys are the greatest. just a bunch of great guys who have welcomed a die hard chevelle guy on to your site. well now i am a maverick man. and its funny because i do not own one chevelle. i have had 100s and i mean hundreds of chevelles over the last 25 years, maybee just for a day, or a week, always buying fixing and selling. well now my keeper car, my personal toy is a 71 maverick grabber. is that cool or what.

Thats a great story. I wouldnt mind a nice 454 Chevelle though to park beside the Mav.:drive::drive: Drove my buddies 454 Chevelle in high school. That car with the 4 speed and slicks would hook and launch like an animal. My number 2 favourite car that I have driven.

i will not pick up the car in person. i hired a transport company that i have dealt with in the past to pick the car up for me. door to door 600.00 fully insured. you know i use to go get cars myself and drive them home its fun taking a road trip. but break down just one time 500 miles from home or more and after you see what it costs, well then you relize hey i dont need the roadtrip. tim

Thats not a great idea.....Sending the money over and not seeing the car you could be out of $5600 you get the car and its a complete rust bucket and those pictures are 10 years old

well dont raze me too much, but no i am not going to see car in person before i hand over the money. i know its the al mighty gamble. but over the last 25 years i have bought cars for my buissness sometimes spending 30,000.00 sight unseen. yes i know its risky, and yes i have been stung a few times, but its the way i have always done it. now that said on a 5000.00 purchase if the car showed up total junk well its still 5000.00 but not the end of the world. on a 30,000.00 car that shows up total junk well then its RAMBO 5 TIME and i am taking down the whole town. tim

We dont need any negativity here :naughty:, he is a big boy and knows what he is doing and knows that there is a chance he is not getting a good deal. He has more pics on the car and has spoken to the owner and its not his first trip around the block buying a car unseen. Besides even at the price he got the car for if he has to do some things that were not told to him he has the abilities to fix it. :thumbs2:
