well guys i pulled the 71 maverick out of my inlaws barn and towed it home washed it so when i get back from florida i can start restoring it. check out the pics and yes the odometer says 396 miles original. john
comrick, yes it is original special order solid purple is what the tag in front of the radiator says.also i knew the guy that bought it off the showroom floor it has never been painted it been in storage for the last 35 years john
That's really cool, have any idea how many other Mavericks were painted that colour in the years that Mavericks were produced? It can't be too many and for your sake hopefully very few as it can only make your car that much more rare.
theres another member with a purple mav that logs in from time to time. your purple mav is awesome. cant wait to see it finished!!!
being special order it may be hard to find out how many were painted that color but i have only seen one other one and they had already painted it blue but under the carpet and in the trunk it was still purple. maybe a marti report might tell me how many . i cant wait to drop the motor in it but before i do that i have to replace all the brakes, lines wheel cyliders maybe do a disc conversion on the front. the rims are aftermarket i bought ten years ago john
very good interior but it needs a real good clean and i have to fix the door panels just one small tear in the front seat someone left a screwdriver in there back pocket.
Are those smoothies? Why would someone store a special ordered maverick after only driving it 300 some miles. They should have dry stored it. So the original owner only drove it for three years, not even a mile a day.
he owned his own speed shop the car was only used at the drag strip. with a boss 302 in it. that is 396 1/4 mile runs. he had several old special cars like his 66or67 fairlane 427 car.yes they are smoothies. at the time i inherited the car i didnt know it was so rare my fault. but i am going to do everything in my power to bring it back and thats a promise. john
