Ok so I have been watching some front and rear sway bars, each set $115....Is it worth changing those? I know they are supposed to improve handle blah blah blah but all parts are advertised to say that. Also is that price for a set good?

Depends on what size they are and if they come with bushings. I'd get the biggest bars you can find. You don't have one in the rear if your car is stock, but I've seen aftermarket rear bars on here somewhere. That being said anything new is going to be a heck of a lot better than something that's been flexing back and forth for 32 years, myself included :D

New sway bars are definitely worth it. It takes a little drilling to install a rear one, but adding a rear and upgrading the front one makes the car handle a lot better. I got my set from PST and am really happy with it. It came with all the hardware and bushings. Not sure what it cost me though, I bought it as part of a bigger suspension package.

Ok cool, so I am going to buy the 7/8 fronts and eventually see about the back. I am not one to go drilling on the car I would have to find someone to do that.

    Hey OG's77Comet:

I thought you were thinking about selling the car because it needed so much work to pass inspection?

I was until I decided that I do want to learn about cars and fixing them and I did not want to give up so quickly without even trying to do the work myself. I found out a friend of mine is pretty good wit cars so he showed me how to change the rotors and caliper and I am going to be changing the two fronts, and looking for someone with some experience with shocks to change those. I have bought auto repair for dummies which is really good and the haynes manual for the comet which is also good. Once I started putting effort in I learned quite a bit.

I think before you start spending money on sway bars.....might want to save that money and spend it on other area's of the car first. Get it in tip top shape before you start adding performance and handling items like sway bars.

Sounds good. Thanks. Trust me, no rush here at all, I would like to change these calipers and rotors first. There is just so many questions so I ask them here being that everyone is so great and knowledgeable. My notebook is filling up.

You definitely need to make sure the brakes are in order. Then go after all the other things on you list that prevents it from passing inspection, like the suspension, power steering leaks, etc.
