The ones over at www.discbrakeswap.com, kits 2 and 3 say they are both for comets and mavs. i have a 74 Mav. Is there a specific one I have to choose for my car or are either fine?
Kit 2 is the same style that is used on the factory disc brake equipped Mavs/Comet. Granada discs = Mav discs. I would vote for that one.
I might be an idiot, but where are the prices, and if one wanted to, how would one place an item in the "cart"?
You're not alone. I honestly don;t know how and been tryng for a while now to figure it out. chances are though I'll end up giving them a call for ordering.
yeah, judging by the site i dont know i would trust it. it may just be that they are a manufacturer and prefer to use suppliers, but seems phishy to me.... there are a lot of mustang/cougar sites out there that have the prices listed and will have the correct kit.
They are a member on this site (degins). Looks like their site could use some work. If you drill down through the Mustang models you can see the prices and add to the cart. But I would just call them.
Here's a copy and paste of how my email conversation went with Dennis of discbrakeswap.com: (Summary: SWAP.2.1.4/M is what I bought for my 1970 at $606.31 Total shipped to Houston, TX. The shipment has arrived but not been installed yet. All parts appear to be there and in good condition. My personal reasons for going with this company are; a) it appears to be a full swap assembly - should not have to piece it all together item by item; b) I did not want the mechanic to guess at what parts he should get for the swap as he is not familiar with Mavericks.) BTW, I was a little surprised that there wasn't more info (reviews) on this site about discbrakeswap.com __________ Subject: SWAP.2 Classic Ford Disc Brake Swap Kit 75-80 GRANADA BASED KIT To: info@discbrakeswap.com To Whom it may concern: Does the "Swap .2" work for all year makes of Maverick? I have a 1970 that I will be swapping to discs. Regards, Rick Book ___________________ From: "info@discbrakeswap.com" <info@discbrakeswap.com> To: rickbook Subject: RE: SWAP.2 Classic Ford Disc Brake Swap Kit 75-80 GRANADA BASED KIT Rick, Yes, the SWAP.2.1.4/M is correct for that year/model. Thanks for writing. Dennis
Looks like $524 but the best way is to contact them. Telephone: (512)947-6718 E-mail: info@discbrakeswap.com PayPal ID: payment@discbrakeswap.com eBay ID: DISCBRAKESWAP
$525 is not bad for all of that. Will the rotors need to be bought seperately though? Also, I'm going to Meineke to get it installed since the one I go to installs kits.
Here's some Before/After Pics of install. Quoting the mechanic, "I had to spend like $40 bucks in brake lines and fitting to get the lines to work with the new master cylinder and proportioning valve." He said it stops great now. It's probably no fun to drive anymore. ha!
