so i was just taking my dash out when i got the brilliant idea to take my windshield out to get to the front bolts easier. I figured no big deal taking the windshield out will be easy well to my surpise the previous owner used every type of sealant on this plant when he put the windshield in. Do you know wat happened next??? Ya you guessed it crack goes the windshield followed by spidering all over the windshield which was then followed with alot of swearing and me taking a break and taking my truck four wheeling lol. For the question does anywhere sell new windshields for mavericks?
Yes it is about the only piece of glass you can get new except maybe a rear glass. Just call an auto glass shop
Sorry for your trouble - I dread when I have to pull my windshield (next project)... Go to one of your local glass places and ask. They usually have a good handle on suppliers and what is available. It worked for me, you'd be surprised what is still available out there. Chris
I have found prices around 250-275 online, window only no seal Too bad your not in Florida I have 3 used ones sitting here.
Wow! I had a company in san antonio install a new one for $145.00 that inclued the windshield!... I supplied the new gasket tho.
You really have to shop around for windshields I found out. I needed one for my F100. The 1st 3 places I called w2anted almost $400 installed my no gasket. I finally called a smaller shop and got it installed for $165. That is a huge difference in prices. clint
i bought my front windshield with tint for $145 here in roanoke, va. The rear windshield I got from a guy in Owensboro, Ky for a hundred bucks... he's pretty well known for having maverick parts in western Ky.
Go ahead and get your gasket from AutoKrafters. A glass shop will supply the same one...just marked up. Cleaver
You need to decide what you are going to do about the floorboards and torque boxes before you spend the money on a windshield.
Yes the prices vary but so does the quality. A windshield is like giant eyewear. Variations in the glass can play havoc with your eyes and even cause motion sickness. We had a run on bad windshields in one of our new car models. The road would appear wavy in one section of the glass and it really pulls your eye to it when your driving. Very distracting and if you caught the angle right it would make you sort of dizzy. Hard to explain but not a nice feeling. Kind of like wearing the wrong glasses. Check the warranty on the glass with the cheaper lines. Our guys wont install the low end glass anymore. Too many comebacks. Look on the brightside. That dash is a lot easier to remove now.
Thanks for all the help guys. im still pricing windshields but, the cheapest i found where i live is 225 no seal, self installation. And craig i have found floor boards getting price tommorrow and inner fender panels 200 plus shipping, and torque boxes i found but they want a hundred a piece i think i might make my own
