Just had the battery checked its fine but the car wont start. It doesnt even try to turn over. Put the key in turn it nothing the dash lights(temp, brake) light up for a sec but thats it. Any Suggestions.

dirty battery terminals or bad cables. Once had a tempo that would do that at random. I'd clean the terminals and the problem would go away for about a month.

wiggle the neg cable on the post and see what happens. sometimes the dont make a good connection, look on there good, but you lose connection when you turn the key. even when clean ive had this happen. i usually clean both and leave a rough scuff on both surfaces then make sure to twist the cable slightly as connecting it. then make sure it works and tighten it down....

I just replaced the solinoid still not working. i cleaned terminals and double checked the conections that didnt work. When i reconect the battery the headlights and dome light come on and when i turn the key it goes off and wont work again untill disconecting and reconecting the battery.

I just bought a new starter also. But the car is sitting on a sloped gravel driveway so is there any way to replace the starter from the top?
It has a 200cid so there is some room but not sure if it will work.

If the dome light comes on and then goes off when you turn the key you've got a bad connection at the battery. Could just not be tight enough, could be dirty...could be a bad cable too. What's happening is that the connection is fine at low current, but as soon as you draw lots of current it breaks the connection...

Take a set of jumper cables use only the ground lead ( black lead ) connect one end to the ground termnal battery the other end to the engine block or alternator bracket or some thing lick that ( MAKE A GOOD GROUND ) and see if your motor starts .

That trick should tell you about the bad ground connection or cable you have. I am betting on a bad cable fillied with corrosion. I have been replacing all of the cables on both my trucks with the Monster type clear sheath cables so I can see any damage on the inside.
If you have done any painting lately that can cause the starter solonoid to loose it's ground as well and cause trouble

Thnx for all the help guys it was a bad ground wire.
i ended up running a ground strait from the starter solinoid to the battery it started right up. Too much rust i guess.
