I have only heard negative comments on those so called kits.

Most do not fit the intended vehicle, leaks, became loose and fell down, are some of the comments that I have heard. Those were Mustang designed kits, which by sheer volume you would think they would be good.

Our cars are shaped totally different than anything else, so a Mustang kit probably isn't going to fit as well as it would on....well a Mustang.

I have built several DIY exhaust systems. Couple on my old trucks (one '83 F100 514" BBF and 95 F150 5.0), a few times on my old '74 Maverick with different engine combos from mild 302 to turbo 302, etc), an '86 Merkur 2.3T, a '84 Mustang SVO (single 3" front to back no muffler....sounded good for a 2.3). None of them could have been done without welding/cutting/etc. At least not very well anyway.

No need to mess with kits. An exhaust shop can bend and install 2 pipes and mount the mufflers pretty cheap. You could turn them down at the axle for now and do tail pipes later.

just did exhaust on my comet bought some cheap flowsound mufflers on ebay and had a guy in town do the exhaust for $200, he had to dump them in front of the rear axle cause i gave him offset/offset mufflers. he quoted me $150 but then he found out he needed reducers and special gaskets for my headers, and i had him put in a H-pipe. i paid $30 a peice for the mufflers and they sound just like a flowmaster 40 to me.

if you buy the mufflers remember to get offset/center ones so you can go all the way out the back.
