    Finished coating the tank.
After reading other posts I find myself a little confused about getting other parts, sending unit and valve leading to charcoal canister.

Well, I was hoping for more options on finding a sending unit.
I read a mustang 68 sending unit would work with little mods.
Auto krafters 71-73 sending unit would be on back order, and its not really the correct unit for the 73 year. Or, maybe we can get them now.
My best option would to find a NOS or one in good shape that someone wants to sell me.
Does anyone have one to sell to me?
    Do I have more options?
    Thanks.

That doesn't look like any Maverick gas tank. What part of the tank is that?

That is the inside top of the tank. The hole where the tubing is, is where fuel goes in. The other hole is for the vent valve.

I have never seen a tank like that one on a Maverick as well. The little vent tube coming off the fill tube is what I question. How is one supposed to remove the fill tube with that vent tube attached to it?

My 74 has that as well. The filler tube actually slides into that or at least the top of it.

I am going to have to look at my tanks. Maybe they do have that and I never noticed.

68 mustang sending unit on my mav

I went with the 68 mustang sending unit. I drilled a hole in the plate and installed a bolt for a ground wire.
I hope i have the wires right. I have the yellow wire connected to the original bolt that runs to the green wire on the inside of the tank.
I connected the black wire to the plate itself with the bolt that i installed.
    Does it look good?:yup:
I put about 4 gal into the tank, no leaks.
I don't see the fuel gage working, I guess i'll need to put more gas in it.

Has anyone replaced the fuel lines on their car? I'm sure no one makes replacements ,but how much trouble would it be to modify ones from a Must. or other model to fit? In the past I have always replaced the lines on my street machines with larger lines for better fuel flow to carbs. Alum. is fairly easy to work with.3/8inch with electric pump works well with most mild engines.I would not trust the fuel lines on those cars after seeing what the tanks looked like!!! If the steel tank is rusted out so is the line!!

Yep, replaced mine with 3/8 aluminum. As you said, it's easy to bend and install, and no rust inside! :D
