ok heres my set up, what im wanting to know is what cam everyone recommends. 92 cougar 5.0 HO stock rotating assy, gt40p heads, airgap intake, 600 holley, 2500 stall converter and b&m street shift kit oh i also have 1.6 erson rollers too
With a 2500 stall you are going to be limited to about 214 degrees at .050" lift for duration and I don't think I would go over .5" lift with those heads. The extreme energy cams are great but you may need valve train mods.
If you haven't opened the shift kit yet send it back and get a TransGo 40-2 reprogramming kit. They have no known problems - like the B&M kit does) and it will make the C4 come alive! You will think you have gained 25 hp!
paul s, i was really considering that. How much do those kits run? plovette, currently the stock 3.0 8inch but very soon to be 8.8 3.55
I think you can run a little more duration with the 3.55's. I would say something like the Ford E303 would work well. It's not an ultra modern, aggressive lobe profile, but then like Paul said you might not want to go lift crazy with the factory heads. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=FMS-M-6250-E303&autoview=sku I like the tighter 110 degree lobe separation with this cam. Most 5.0 hydraulic rollers have a 112-114+ lobe separation angles to work with fuel injection. The 110 will work better with your carbureted motor IMO. It will sound much better too if that matters. That said, this cam has .498" lift and I don't know what if any valvetrain mods you might need. JMO, paulie
I think this would be a good cam for that setup. http://www.compperformancegroupstor...Product_Code=35-324-8&Category_Code=F50CEFIXE
this is the monster that comp. suggested for my car 93 cobra motor ported heads victor intake 650 carb 3200 converter 4.10 gears and 200 shot from the jug http://www.compcams.com/Cam_Specs/CamDetails.aspx?csid=899&sb=2 i was thinking .550 lift high 220s low 230s brad
You can find them on-line for a bit less than $70 sometimes but the usual selling price is about $100. I don't know what the B&M kit sells for but I do know that a lot of people have had problems with them in the C4. TransGo has great customer support too - if you have any questions you can call the number in their kit and get answers to any questions you have.
