I picked up an optional combination dome light/map light and am planning on adding to my car. Will the original dome light mounts work and supply power to the dome light? Then I just need to run and extra wire for the map lights? Thanks ...

    yea...

I did this one! No and no. You'll need another hot wire for the map lights and it can't be spliced from the one that is there because that is switched at the door. My car is a 73 and I had to rig the mounting using one original screw. inorder to drill into a support I used one of the square holes in the doom light with a large washer. It was something like that.

Hey, I just looked at your web site. You should go all stock and get something else to mess up. But it really doesn't matter.

    Nice ride~

That is about how it works I did it on my 75. I just used the same hot wire and screwed it in than drill 2 extra holes for the other screws. The fourth hole leave it blank that the other power strip for the map light. Than on the back of the light I connect a wire from one map light to the other so both map lights work and thats it.

No need to run another wire through the roof.

    well...

I ran another wire for the map lights. I used a slightly heavier gauge wire to make it possible to fish the wire through my head liner. I had to pull off the strip around the door molding and peal back the head liner alittle bit....the draw back is that the wire kinda sits on the headline and makes an impression.
