how will that be any different than a standard air cleaner? You're still pulling the air from the engine bay

And you're going to gain zero hp.

Hit the boneyard and find a TBI Caddy. You'll know it when you see it. It will have a "hat" on the throttlebody with the same size opening as your carb, and on the other end will be a place where you can attach that ricer crap.

(oops! Did I say that out loud?)

Just havin' a little fun... Actually I did that once myself, which is why I know about the TBI Caddy piece. In a third gen Camaro I ran an aluminum tube from the carb to the front bumper cover. It sounded interesting, and maybe it ran better compared to the open element sucking hot air from under the hood, but in the end I just didn't believe myself anymore when I kept saying it didn't look ridiculous.

Ive had one like that, and wasnt too impressed...I never felt any real benefit to having that versus a regular air cleaner.

But it IS for the rice burners, you can get them to buy anything as long as you say it makes them go faster...lol

They sell an actual "cup" that goes over the carb

you can get a carb top hat...i dont remember the specific name of the company but they did show a power increase over the regular filter and intake

I'd bet that a Moroso filter housing in an open scoop will show a larger power increase than all the twists and bends of a pipe flowing air to a restrictive little top hat.

If a power increase was found, it was in comparision to a stock air cleaner housing with the stovepipe and all hooked up.

There are some filter housings that have two snorkels on them for cold air packages. In the late 60s and early 70s it wasn't uncommon to see them on muscle cars back then. Two 2 1/2" tubes running to the sides of the radiator support don't offer much restriction to the intake - there is more restriction in the K&N filter than those tubes have.

If he cut a hole in the inner fender and tucked that thing in behind the head light it would at least be getting cooler air.

Don't forget every LED installed on the car is good for 20HP!

the carb hats i've seen were not restrictive at all, extreme velocity was the company, but there prices are wayy to much for an adapter for a cold air intake...lol. superiorairflow.com dynosheets (a lot of turbo cars)
