I think it's called the drag link that goes from the pittman arm to the idler arm? maybe it's called something else. anyways, I was wondering if anyone has changed the bushings on theres before. I have tremendous amounts of play in my tires and it's because that bushing is almost gone. I was wondering if anyone else has changed this and how big of a job it is. I don't know if the bushing needs pressed on or not. anyone know? nick
drag link bushings I'll let you know soon...thats my project for tomorrow...along with other suspension bushings:bananaman
yes actually i replaced mine when i had my front end apart when i put the front frame rails in. is not a very hard task really. once you get a look at the bushing you will see it only presses in one way. i used a hard plastic heavy mallet to drive the bushing out and used it to put the new one in. i didnt want to use a small sledge for fear of screwing up the arm. just make a note of which way the bushing slides into the arm!! the rim of the bushing should face away from the centerlink. and the one for the actual idler arm i am not too sure if you can get this one still. you may have to buy a new idler arm. but if you find one it is a bushing also
I got the bushing that goes to the idler arm today from napa. I'm not sure what kinda shape the center link one is in. I know the guy that had the car before tried to use washers to tighten up where the idler arm is. lets just say that isn't working that well. anyways do I need to remove the drag link from the car or is it easy to do with it on the car still? there's so much slop in my steering because if this it's dangerous. thanks nick
both bushings are in the idler arm, just unhook the centerlink and unbolt the idler from the frame (2 bolts) and you can do them out of the car
more than likely you have the bushing for the centerlink end......like i said in the first post you will probably have to buy the idler arm (which sometimes comes with the centerlink bushing already installed) i just went through this about two monthes ago
