The first set with the keys I'm not a fan of. Had them on a Ranchero my dad had and they were always a pain. The second ones are pricy, and you have to cut a pretty big hole in your hood, but they're a nice design. Not really sure if the look fits our cars well. You can't go wrong with the last set, inexpensive and that classic look.
no key ones and the hood pins happen to say mopar at the bottom of the screen LOL but ide go with hood pins
It's all cool to have your hood locked down untill theres a engine compartment fire. That part always scared me.
I've always been told that in the event on an engine fire you leave your hood down and spray the extinguisher through the grill to suffocate it. Seems like if you open the hood the fires going to take off pretty quick.
You can always mount an extinguisher under the hood with a pull cable to activate it............. Be sure to use CO2 and not dry chemical!
this is really true. Are you just wanting some protection when the car is parked? I used to (and others I am sure) had a chain mounted to the hood latch bolts, the chain would hang between the grill and radiator (when closed) and I would loop the chain around the front lower crossmember and put a lock on it......that was on a 72' Nova, but it would work for any car. Course now I am old and getting down there to unlock the lock is not an option
I put pins on my Shelby hood just because I no longer have a latch...and it looked right. Here's the type I used and I really like them. They are billet aluminum. Mine have Shelby stamped into them but you can get them with no wording too. Here's an eBay link on some right now. They are expensive but at least they don't look cheap like most of them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-0...TruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesQQsalenotsupported
I bought a set of these, out of England, for a tilt front end that I am making. They're from a company called Aerocatch and they were 83.00 delivered to my door. The ones pictured here must be a more recent design as mine did not come with the finger hole for opening them. I would think that all kinds of crap will wind up getting packed into the latch through that hole. This set just fit into my overall design.
My Grabber hood had pins when I bought the car but I wouldn't have drilled that hood for them... but it does fit the image I'm going for. I'm buying new lanyards for them today.
Thanks to everyone for all your advice and opinions. any pictures of hood ???? thanks again :Handshake
