The dyno guy said he had a car in last week w/ a 302 they spun up to 10k! Don't know what kind of set up they had but that's insane.
They stopped at 5400, but I guess you were starting to get out of your powerband by 4600-5000. How did they figure that out? Did they run it higher the first time and see where it started to drop, and then just not go any higher next time? Mine feels like it pulls to about 6500, but I don't want some guy revving it to 7k or 7500 on a pull to verify it. I will have to be out of the building if he does that. Or be wearing a Depend Undergarment.
Actually I was behind the wheel. He said run it through my rpm range and that's where I stopped. Since I'm running a hydraulic flat tappet on the stock shortblock I'm hesitant to rev much higher. If I get ballsy I may take it to 6k but that's just asking for trouble. Really though I want the power lower in the rpm range anyway, for stoplight to stoplight.
Very nice numbers!! Awesome job on the engine! Mine is very close to what your running, makes me very curious.
Yeah I'm really happy with the numbers, I think I've got plenty of room to have fun with the T-5 without worrying. The only thing I plan to do in the future is hook up my ignition box. Not sure if that will help my HP numbers but may help my A/F and rev speed.
they ask most of the time...how far do you want to go? and if they don't ask, the cam will tell them when they are through... they don't want your motor blown up on their dyno anymore than you do... chances are you hit it harder at the track than on a Dyno... my runs on the dyno are about 7 secs. ......
Thanks for explaining. I have only seen one dyno session and that was Rick Books a couple years back, and they ran that thing WAY up. All three of us (me, rick, my wife) all started walking backwards away from the setup just waiting for the pieces to fly...
Well DUH!!! the car was sitting still doing over 100 MPH, it didn't have to be the motor that came apart...driveshaft, tire blow, radiator hose, fan blade, belt or pulley come off for a few things... i love it...we do 10-12 pulls per session.... ...LMDP...
