I have a 73 Maverick. I have lost all the electrical power:(. The battery is new and reading 12.75 volts. I have volts up to the starter solenoid, to the alternator, but nothing past that. The engine will turn over by jumping starter solenoid, but will not run. I pull number spark plug cable off, and got a spark when cranking like above. I have replace the voltage regulator, starter solenoid, ground wire to engine, main wire to starter and coil. There is not any power to the lights, radio or anything. I have check the battery cable since my battery is in the trunk and also check the wiring hookup at the solenoid.. This one I am very puzzled. I appreciate any help on this one.
    Thanks

How about the starter switch? It's located on the top of the steering column. It has 2 nuts holding it to the column. The cost is under $20. Any local parts store should be able to get one for you. I had the same problem on a trip. I now carry an extra one in the trunk at all times. You do have to lower the column to gain access to it. Has a big plug on the end of it. Good luck!

Have not tried that yet. Would that effect the power to the whole electrical system and also one other thing I did not mention was that I have my steering wheel off. It is over my Dad's house being rebuilt into a wooden steering wheel. With that being off, will that shut down the electrical system? Just curious.

Having your steering wheel off won't effect the electrical system. Your headlights should still turn on and your interior dome light should work. It sounds like you may have a bad connection somewhere, like the firewall connector or your fusible link gave up. The fusible link attaches to your starter solenoid on the same terminal where the battery cable and the big wire to the alternator go. The first 4 inches or so of the wire is the fusible link.

the power to the car comes from the starter solonoid. there is a wire that has fuesable link in it right after the solonoind. that fuseable link is probly blown. or you have left that wire off the soloniod. start at that wire and it should be streachy if the fuesable link has gone out.
