hi everyone,i have a problem, maybe some of you tranny gurus can help.my mav is a 3 spd.floor shift.when i start it everything is nice and quiet, but when i push in the clutch,it makes a chattering noise.when i let my foot off,it stops.is this an adjustment issue,or is my tranny about to fly south?any help is greatly appreciated.thank you...chuck.
Most likely it is the throw out bearing. As you push in the pedal, it engauges the arms on the pressure plate. If your bearing is not in the best of shape, it will not spin freely and drag a little, causing the noise.
dennis,do you think anything else would make the noise?i put a new throwout bearing in when i put in the tranny.
I agree, it's the throwout bearing. With all this aftermarket stuff being made in China etc, quality has flown out the window. Had a new one in a Toy-ota way back and it would sound like damn cat meowing everytime you pushed on the pedal. Drove it that way for two years and had much fun at stop lights in the summer with windows down.
alright guys, thank you, i appreciate the input.i guess i know what my new project is. i'll never learn with these damn autozone parts.i think when i take out this lifetime warranty part,i'm going to napa.another set back keeping me from driving my maverick
