I know this has been asked way too many times. I have researched old posts, and the storys seem to flip flop back and forth on what to do for exhaust Headers? What is the cards up....most easy application Header to install on a Maverick? Cost is a factor as I would think a Shorty Header like Doug Thorley would be Great, but at 400.00 + dollars cant afford. I am considering sticking to a stock cast manifold. What do ya think?
Im in the same boat as you, (assuming your running a 302 V8) i wanted to throw on some shorties also but either they wont fit or they are too expensive so i suppose ill go with full length wich is alright cuz they have better flow and still sound good (even it doesnt have the shorty sound) I fould a pair of Headmens that are suppose to fit without too much hassle and are only around $150. Here is a link to them: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=HED%2D88300&N=700+115&autoview=sku Also i heard that there is another set of full length Hookers that majority of people seem to be using but there around 350 bucks.
i have the hooker long tubes i have the ceramic ones but they have a painted one at this link http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=HOK-6901HKR&N=700+0+115&autoview=sku mine fit sweet i moved my engine around a bit but they still fit with no cutting or bending brad
As far as I can see most everyone likes Hooker 6901 ,But some say they fit great, others say so-so. I just want something I wont have to fight with. my application is 302 with manual steering.
Thanks everyone keep the Posts coming ...I have the V-8 installed, and on the mounts ,as of today. I want to order up something tommarrow. I will post some I-6 to V-8 Pics Soon.
i have the hedman shorty's and it works great with the column shift cars. the only thing you need to get is a drop down bracket for the steering
