just got back from camping, went to drive the maverick. (got it fixed on Thursday) i made it 3 blocks and my tranny seemed to go in to neutral "in all gears". then the weird part is after i let it sit for 20 min it would work ok for about 20 yards. so im in hell. need to go and rebuild my original tranny and hope it works.:cussing:

Quite unlucky to be low on fluid. Maybe your luck can change?

Checked Idling in park on level surface? I have seen dipsticks read off before too. They added a quart and presto-gear-chango.

I'm no PaulS, but I think it is odd that all your gears would go out at once... I still think it is something simple.

My 72 would lose reverse when warm. I cleaned out the VB, put in a shift kit, and adjusted the band. It worked perfect after that.

That Pauls always takes the weekends off - something about the congregation needing a pastor or something.....

It seems very weird to me that you lose all gears. check the fluid level with the engine idling in Park. Give it a minute or two to fill the converter and check it again (with the engine still idling in Park)
You have to have the engine running to fill or check the fluid level.
If it is right then either the filter is clogged or the pump is bad. Either way you will have to rebuild it.
Let me know if I can help.... (just not on the weekends)

sorry about the weekend thing paul, your just the tranny hero to most of us on here. but on the other hand i checked it out again and still dosnt work after tinkering for a few hours... just got out my original 73 tranny out of storage (all it need is a pump gasket, floor shift lever, and filter kit)so it should be perfect.... just a $80.00 set back and another few days to a week of work:cry:
