Well guys, It's been an exciting past couple of years.

A recap for many who have been with me since the beginning on this board.

    1. paid 10 grand to a resto shop to restore my maverick. (minus drivetrain/interior). Shop went out of business, but I got the car back painted, sheetmetal hung, but that's it. I wound up with my car, and a 70 grabber that they had bought for parts. We fixed up the 70 grabber's body damage, and now it sits...awaiting a new torque converter

    2. I sold my 86 mustang convertible that I've had since summer of 96. she was my baby, but it was time to move on, and I needed cash to finish the maverick. Even bigger yet, I picked up a 66 mustang.

    3. I got my 66 mustang (free for a labor trade) going with a ford racing crate motor/t5 combo that I lifted from a friends car for a whopping $500!!! My 66 mustang now sports a crate motor with a roller b cam, gt40 alum heads, t5 and electronic duraspark ignition. I'll post some pics up of that. the 66 is now a turn-key car. Though it needs a TON more stuff, it's good to drive to the store and back for beer...and that's good for now.

    4. My final kid was born!!! I've currently got a 5 year old and 2.5 year old daughter, and we decided to try for a third and final. 3 weeks ago, my son, Carter was born. Good times ahead folks. I'm so happy. I've got three healthy kids, and a boy too!

    5. I'm ready to start on the maverick. Over the past 2 days i've ordered my oil pan, valve covers, and all the other misc stuff including head bolts, intake bolts, gaskets, etc etc.

The 72 is receiving the following

-rebuilt 5.0 roller short block with 94 cobra gt40 heads, and EFI, explorer (gt40) intake with a c4 or likely an AOD that I have lined up.

I'll be starting on the maverick immediately. My goal is to have the maverick where I can at least start it up in 6 months or less. (that's quick considering I have three kids 5 and under)

I'm thinking I'm going to go with the ford fuel injection wiring harness, and plumb all the efi lines myself, and possibly with mavdog71's help.

    Some pictures...

here is a video of my 66 running

Here is the 66 with the t5 and pro 5.0 shifter installed. Excuse the rats nest of wiring...that's my current project. BTW, the 66 was a c4 car

I'll have to admit, my 66 mustang has derailed my 72 maverick project. I've now got my 66 to a point where it's running and driving absolutely amazing, so I've turned my attn back to the maverick.

This week, literally I plan on dropping the drivetrain in, finally to the maverick.

it's a fuel injected (original cobra intake, 65mm t/b and 24# injectors) ford racing crate motor with gt40y aluminum heads and an isky cam.

trans is a lentech built aod with a high stall, I think 2600 rpm torque converter

I spent today cleaning the heads of all the red paint that was on them. I'm back to shiny aluminum again. Tomorrow I put the new oil pan on,, paint the block black, the prepare to drop it in by end of week. yes, the red valve covers are history.

Congrats on the birth of your son :bananaman
That's a really cool shot of him belted in ready to drive.

I got my Maverick way back in 1989 and I'm just now working on getting it completed.

    It just takes time.
