help!!!!!!!!!

    hi thank you for having such a wonderful site!!!:)
    i am desperate i have a 72 comet and when i turn it on idles pretty high, when driving it has no power at all it turns off. i have rebuilt the carburetor and cleaned out the lines for the fuel system and took all the rust out of gas tank. and it still does the same does anyone know what i can do to fix this or what might be causing the problem. help:hmmm:

    2 things come to mind:

    check and make sure your idle isn't set too high, so you gotta go over the carb calibration and make sure everything is correct

    then make sure you don't have disconnected or improperly connected vacuum hoses

    Is the carb mounted with new gaskets? If it has an insulator is it cracked? Is your throttle plate working properly. Is the choke plate not adjusted or disconnected sucking closed when you step on it? Just a few thoughts. Good luck!

    Have you changed the fuel filter. What part of Az. are you in? :)

    I've had that issue also, for me it was vacuum leak. Check every line. Also like Don said base of carb of carb choke plate. ect

    sounds like a vac leak to me also, you can locate it with disc brake cleaner just be careful. Listen first for suction spots but you can spray the fluid on the spots you suspect and if the idle changes you will have found it. i would check where the carb mounts first if all the vac lines are hooked back up correctly.

    i'm from tucson. yeah it looks like choke is opening up all the way, i will check the vacuum line thank you
