Ok got the mav back from the paint shop and am getting ready to install the headliner. question is, there is no heatshield or insulation in the car roof above the headliner:hmmm:...Do i buy some sort of insulation to go above the headliner or install without the insulation..i thought about the insulation that you put on the floor that has the aluminum backing to cool the car from the headers, but dont know...any help would be greatly appriciated...btw all of the glass is removed.

i think the noise that will come in from the top of the car is not as much as you'll get from the bottom. So just strips of any kind of insulation is adequate. But I would put something in there. If you have ever driven around in a car with a headliner and one without there is definitely a little bit of a difference. The aluminum stuff that has foam between it is decent if that's what you have lying around.

i was thinking about something that would also help reduce some of this wretched Oklahoma heat..or perhaps a dynamat?

so the aluminum lined insulation is best for heat and yes, definitely the dynamat or any of the similar products out there would insulate further against heat and sound. People will generally put on the dynamat and then the aluminum insulation.

I did the roof in my old 66 Ford F100 with some of the thin Celotex insulation. It wasn't sticky back so I just used some 2M spray glue and it worked great. This was back when the dynomat wasn't out yet, or at least I hadn't heard of it yet. It made a pretty big improvement in the sound dept. and in keeping the hot summer heat down. It also helped with keeping the windows defogged.

I used 1/4 inch headliner foam under my headliner. I don't know if it will work but it can't hurt
Just some 3M spray glue and stick it in place
    cut with sizzors (SP)
