I have the stock P185/75R 14 tires on my 73 Comet and would like to get a wider tire.

    What would you suggest?

    Thanks

    ... wider wheels ...

Seriously ... if it came with 6" wheels, and I suspect by 73 they did, 225/70s ought to be pretty good.
If they still came with skinnier wheels like my white 71 did (14x4s !!!!), it would be time to look for wider rims. Tires do have recommended rim widths that the dealer can look up for you.

Get some 15x8s out back with 295/50s and keep the 185s up front LOL
I currently run 205/75-14 stockers up front and 275/60-15s out back

Would it not depend upon what rims you have? The 6 cylinder rims are not as wide as the Grabber rims...(If your talking stock rims)

I have a 75 with the 200Ci C-4 and i installed 205-75-14s, then changed the speedo gear. I need to plug in my GPS and see how close the speedo is.
