I am wondering what kind of gas mileage I can expect out of my car. It is a 72 with power nothing, an 86 roller 302 out of a licoln, c4 tranny with stck stall, performer rpm intake and 600 vc holley carb, headers and dual exhaust. It will also have a set of crane 1.7 roller rockers and a griffin aluminum radiator with electric fan. I am hoping to get around 17mpg. I sure hope I don't have another 10 mpg vehicle like my truck

its really hard to predict what you will get. your combination should be capiable of that but you have to be capiable of driving the car to get that mpg. also the type of drivng you do, wheather its primarely street or freeway.

You should be able to get 17 out of that easily if you can keep your foot out of it. Maybe even 20.

I've given up on ever keeping my foot out of anything I drive, so MPG has become irrelevant to me. You should try it, it's liberating.

The nut behind the wheel of the car has more effect on fuel economy than any other part or group of parts.

I plan to drive like a grampa. I rarely go over the 65 speed limit on the highway

I will be able to tell you this afternoon. Now that I have my speedo hooked up, I'm going to check the mileage on mine today for the first time before we go to Jasper for the cruise in at 5 this afternoon.

Sounds a lot like my setup, but i have 3.80 gears. If I keep it at 60 and accellerate gently, I get an easy 20 mpg.

On track nite, I burn a gallon per mile.

Mph has nothing to do with mpg. It's the rpm the engine is running. My old hippy van got beter mileage at 70-75 mph than it did at 55-60 mph

OK, I just checked mine tonight-15.8 mpg. You know what's in my engine, so I though that was respectable mileage. Mostly 55-65 mph, some stop and go, two or three wide open sprints for a 1/4 mile or so....

That depends on where you're engine makes power, the more rpms you're doing, the more fuel you'll burn, thus the point of an overdrive transmission.
