Just purchased a 1977 Mercury Comet as a first car. 89,000 klicks on the engine with $3k already in put into it. No rust under it at all, which is a surprise for a old car in Calgary. Got it all for a sweet $1200.00. Had to get it, my dad had a Maverick with a 302 in it when I was little and I loved that car. Currently all that needs to be done is a little bit of rust patch up on the hood and a patch the same size on the lower driver side door. I have my dad on the look out for a smaller front bumper, and I've taken off the ugly hub caps and left the steelies showing. Looking forward to using this forum as a tool to help with any questions I have.
welcome to this board. Tons of free info and lots of people from the north on here. Good luck with your comet and keep the pic's and info coming
Hey all, thanks for the welcomes. Quick question. Just wondering how easy it is to find a new panel where the heat switches are in the car? Mine is busted down the center leaving behind a loose peice of plasitc, and it seem the whole unit is sort of loose as well. I'm going to be driving this in the winter (blasphemy! you say) but this is my only car with an engine (my other is a 1959 Sunbeam Rapier, no engine, no transmission.) and i'll need the heat to work in this ride.
