removing power steering

    What kinda trouble will I get into removing my power steering on my 72 maverick?
    It's never really worked right, do I have to have any special stuff to do this. Any help would be great, I need to do this soon, thanks....Dutch:confused:

    havent done it yet... considering it though. I want to drive a mav/comet with manual steering before I decide. my PS might have spoiled me. Im not sure how they drive without it.

    The absolute easiest way is to buy a manual adapter at any Mustang supply house. They are about $120. Then remove pump, hoses, slave cylinder and control valve. The adapter bolts on in place of the control valve. With this way, you wont even need an alignment, unless you needed one before the swap.

    power steering

    I had a 73 maverick that had manual steering from factory...it drove very well, no complaints at all. The power steering on my 72 is sloppy at best, guess its adapter time...thanks guys...Dutch:D

    I converted mine from power to manual by getting a manual centerlink and tierods from a falcon. It took a few mistakes to get it worked out...like bushing upside down, wrong pitman arm. Anyway, adapter is cheap and pretty easy..Mustangs plus (800) 999-4289 has it at a good price. Hope this helps....
