Any1 have any expierance with the new E3 plug that is out. Supposed to be better than any thing else out there. Fires at 3 locations on the end of the plug. Gapped already by manufacturer. use straight outta the box. Dyno tests have shown a very impressive gain in HP. Any1 know the part number for a 302 for these plugs.

Not looking to improve my fuel mileage. Years ago the old time racers used to shim spark plugs so that the electrode tip ,when tight in the head, pointed to the top of the cylinder. the thought was better fuel burning. These plugs do the same thing because of the 3 electrodes. Some racers here are using them and have found better results than a standard 1 electrode plug.Better burning means more power and more efficiant. I thought I might try them but need the part #. goes like E3-46 or E3-30 or something resembling this idea.:hmmm:
thanks for the info and reply rthomas:)

Indexing is intended to reduce spark shrouding. E3, split fires, bosch +2/+4, etc plugs can shroud spark because the size/number of electroded. Also, indexing is normally used to make sure all cylinders fire the same. I'm not much of a believer that indexing can produce more power but, when racing, why not. It won't hurt anyway. As said above, spark will only use the path of least resistance and only make one spark at a time. I have removed more 'trick' plugs for misfires than I have done standard tune-ups. Use a nice Motorcraft plug in the proper heat range. Best thing you can do for a Ford.

I think the only way to get a "better" spark from any sparkplug is to upgrade the coil and install a CDI box of some kind. (MSD, etc.)

I've been running a set in my 03 Exploder with the 4.6 and have noticed minor improvements going back up to about 17.6 MPG from 15.8. It was time though for a plug change anyway as we just hit 100K on the odometer. I think I probably could have gotten the same increase out of a set of the Autolite Platinums like the ones I took out. The ones I took out weren't bad at all, just the gap had opened up to about 0.080. - Probably could have regapped and done just fine. - Matt
