Stopped by Bryant's shop, just finished getting my exhaust done and he had a little time so we decided to do the electrical first and do the fitting for the fan later. I showed him all the parts I had and he was able to piece them together pretty easily: I had 2 relays, one fan controlled with the thermo switch in it and of course the taurus fan. Bryant, you got a sweet shop, every tool a man can dream of. This is where Bryant suggested it should be mounted: He made a bracket that he bent up and pre-drilled: And this is the space I have in front of the radiator now, once I go back we'll see what we can get done:
It's off a GM. I have one (two, actually) just like that on my car, that came off an 80's Oldsmobile. Definitely way better then the lame girly sounding factory Maverick horn. Them old GM horns sound like they mean business.
Horn My Mavrick horn sounded like a sick hillary. I could not lower my Mav to install an obama motors part on it. My friend owns a wrecking yard and I got a set of Towncar horns from him. They fit in the same bolt hole the Mav horns were in. Now I have a real horn! Texasjack
Here is the rest of what Bryant and I got done. I got to do a lot of the work this time so I'm kinda proud of myself. But Bryant was ready with a fire extinguisher and his wise wisdom: I made the cuts exactly as Jay described in his tech write up for this: It's hard to see but this is the bracket that Bryant made and attached the relay and temp control module to it: He spliced into the AC wire for the AC switch which activates the fan when the AC is turned on: The power came straight from the power wire that goes to the coil. There is basically this set of wires that has 2 red wires and these other 2 wires one of which goes to the oil sensor and the other to the water temp sensor. The other 2 wires I guess go to the coil. That's the one Bryant tapped into. The pictures didn't come out very good this time, maybe my lens was dirty but here is some pics of the bolts we used to mount the fan shroud to the radiator. Also, on this taurus fan the black wire was ground, the wire with the yellow line was the high speed fan and the other one with the orange stripe was the low speed which we didn't even use. We used one of the radiator bolts as the ground wire mount. Bryant adjusted the fan to start kicking in when the thermostat opens. Works out great. I drove around in traffic and was sitting with the AC running on a pretty hot day and didn't get over 195.
