there is an intermittent tapping sound, and it's getting worse. it used to just happen in park and go away when put into drive or reverse, now it does it all the time and goes away when there is a load on the motor (alight acceleration) but it comes and goes frequently...what could it be(i know it's not a lifter). loose rocker arm shaft? rod knock, bad bearing? any ideas...it's getting worse by the day. any help at all would be great (y)

Why do you say it is not a lifter? I remember hearing about a lot of bad lifters a year or two ago. It was said a lot of them came from China then.
I also agree that an exhaust leak will sound a lot like a bad lifter.
Take a piece of fuel hose to your ear and run the other end around the headers at heads. If you get near a leak you will hear it.

When you say it goes away with a load on the engine I`m thinking torque converter bolts are not tight.

i know it's not a lifter b/c i know what a lifter tap sounds like, and i know it's not an exhaust leak b/c it's a 200 I6 and the sounds is internal...but it may be the torque conterter bolts...i also thought it was the rocker arms aswell..but now atleast i have a place to start...btw my fuel pump is the original and has over 100,000 miles on it so it may very well be that also. but it goes away with a load so thats leans me toward torque converter bolts...that being the cheapest and easiest (i work in a shop so i have a lift) i'll check that first. thanks for all the help guys :thumbs2:
