Great pics Earl! I'm starting to get excited about our CruisinTheCoast event down here. Just right around the corner, starts 1st weekend in Oct!
what the hell kind of car was that in the first of your pics? Looks like a horse carriage. Also, love the last Maverick pick. Pretty cool looking car. And btw, about his taillights, why does it seem like only the outer lights are working? Or am I looking at those bobcat lights wrong?
Horse Carriage!?! ... hardly ... try hearse. Street rodded for that "one last ride". Looks like a great time. My in-laws live near Toledo ... I have almost no excuse to miss this, at least as a spectator. ... maybe next year.
Earl, Im pretty sure I remember seeing your car. I saw a fair number of Maverick/Comets there, and of nice quality too. Unfortunately, I just sold my cruiser and my other car isnt running yet. At least my Focus was clean! I did see that hearse, pretty wild! The wood work was incredible on that. I was debating not even going because I went thursday night and I dont like being in the rediculous traffic that is the Woodward Dream Cruise, so I got out the lawn chairs and sat in the shade in a field just north of 15 mile. Later I went up to the "burnout zone", aka Pontiac. I was a little disappointed with Pontiac because the cops really started cracking down on burnouts. Fortunately it was only in certain parts. Anyway, glad you had a good time!
I cruised in the Mav on Tuesday night for awhile...traffic was already kinda crazy then, but not Saturday crazy. The fuel pump in my daily driver van went bad, so I had to mess with that for awhile but I met up with my dad at the north end of Woodward (Square Lake Road area, for you locals ). His car club always rents spots in a Mobil station up there. In spite of being so far north, there is lots to look at as the cars make the loop and head back south at the light there. What's nice is the cars actually move too. I missed Lee this year, but caught up with Dale for a bit. I noticed the same thing Earl did with the GTOs...and also the Chevelles...I think just about every one still in existance was at the cruise! as always, it was cool to watch...a bright spot in an otherwise pretty damn dismal year in these parts...
I'd always heard about this cruise, but Lee filled me in on it at the Gathering a few weeks ago. It sounds great! I'd like to go someday.
I've never had it quite as far as Westland, but I've brought it to work a couple of times, although it's been 4 years or so since the last time I drove it to work. I work at Ford Rd and Southfield in the blue building with the big Ford ovals on it...(the Regent Court Building)
