well got all my wires out of the engine bay i hosed all the loose stuff off now whats the best cleaner to use in there? if i can get it super clean i will paint it body color if not i will paint it blk.
oven cleaner, greased lightning, castrol super clean,ZEP 505,Zep industrial purple etc will work I highly reccomend the zep products they carry them at home depot stores
the car was originaly a silver color from the red leaf country. but an ideot in the 80s painted it blk with cheap paint. will oven cleaner eat the old pant off to?
I use the engine brite degreaser from Wal-Mart. Get a few cans of it, a few SOS steel wool dish cleaning pads, and some rubber gloves. Spray everything down with the degreaser and let it sit for about 5 minutes, get an SOS pad wet with the degreaser and go to town (with rubber gloves of course). Then hose it all off, you'll be amazed.
I've used both the Oven Cleaner and the Zep products mentioned by Joe Dirt followed by hitting it with a rented steam cleaner. 99% of the time I don't have to go back and reclean anything. -Scott H.
Oven cleaner is my choice .. For best results put the car in the sun let metal warm up spray oven cleaner let o/c stand use wire brush , scotch brite etc. scrub all area respray o/c rescrub then rinse with hose or better yet pressure washer and retreat as nessary .. Oven cleaner will cut just about anything .. Jay
