Horsepower & performance of ORIGINAL Mav's and Comet's...?

    Interesting thread on original performance specs for HEAVY high horsepower muscle cars...

    so in comparison, does anyone know what, if any, relevant performance specs were done on our cars when they were introduced? I found some 1970 road tests (compared the car to a Datsun 510 and VW beetle). So Ford's incentive was RELIABILITY and CHEAP OPERATIONAL COSTS, eh? Never mind us hot rodders... it was a lady's car! Nice mini skirt! Nice eyelashes!

    This article is the only road test I could find.

    Anyone know what the original mileage/performance specs would be after 1971 when there were more 6 cyl and 8 cyl options?

    yah right the vw bug is not fast at all i just sold mine and bought the maverick mine was a 69 it had a hard time getting up to highway speed with the stock motor and after i put a 2054cc motor in it it still whouldent beat my maverick ??? thats all wrong :bs:
