The weather was horrible here in Houston over the weekend.
No races (and PGA tour stop postponed). :(

'Had to go to a "dyno day" to get my thrills. I didn't embarass
myself by putting my Mustang on the dyno, but a buddy of mine
got 460+ h.p. out of his inner cooled turbo charged Dakota R/T.
I forget the torque. Most of the 4.6's were getting a little over 200 h.p.
    A few 5.0's broke the 400 h.p. mark (turbo-charged).

Dyno-days, espcecially if combined with boiled crawfish, ain't a bad day though.

Did you race? How'd it go?

Rain sucks, at least until late summer for the crops. Got the Mav on the trailer waiting for this weekend to test. Will have three cars in our stable now, and makes for interesting race days. The Mav is definately the faster and hopfully will get some good times in. Where you gettin the crawdads, supplier here has gone belly up. You don't happen to have a recommendation for a good boil for them? Also is there a favorite liquid drink that is appropreate to consume with the tasty morsels? :D

    Hey Dave.

These tastey treats came out of Beaumont (East TX). They were okay in size. Not too big (hard to peel) or too small (hard to peel & not worth the time it takes).

    RE: Recommended boil
I don't really have one. Any of 'em are good enough for me. See the page about Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning below:

As far as the favorite liquid drink goes, I prefer the conveniences of going into my local grocery store and buying that new canned stuff. Check it out. It's called BUDWEISER (tm thingy). It's the perfect accompaniment (hiccup!).

Good luck this weekend. You might as well come on over to the FFW at Houston this weekend! Ivy and a few other Mavericks / FE's should be there.

Here's to hoping you get some nice tail soon. :bananaman

I tell you what, if ya'll want some crawfish bad enough, I could round some up and then everybody could just ease on down to Louisiana. I've got plenty of room, and plenty of film. Ah well, it's a thought. I'll just dream on........;) Preston

    Preston,

I grew up in Louisiana. I was born in New Iberia but then became a Yankee and moved close to Alexandria (Manifest, LA).

Back when I was a youngen, we'd spend most of the day setting and running traps. Come night time, we'd go to our local swimming hole and boil them bad boys up. Uhmm.. Uhm!

We're still getting good crawdads over here, so the drive isn't necessary - just yet.

    Thanks,

    Rick

    Hey Rick and Preston,
I'm from Louisiana myself, (northern redneck from West Monroe). My family still lives there. The way we have always boiled our crawfish was just use a regular crab boil, potatoes, onions, corn on the cob and 1/4 lb cayenne pepper. Once the crawfish have been boiled we put them in platic coolers and sprinkle the Tony Chachere's on them. Makes for some good eatin. Just thought I would throw that in. Thanks
    Tomm

OK, now you have all got me craving for some of those critters. Will head out tomorrow and after my VA hospital appt., will get some even if I have to drive to Louisiana. Not only are you guys Maverick/Comet fanatics, you are great chef's too. Those receipes make my mouth water. Lets see, doctor first, get some "DADS" and stop at liquor store. Thanks a million guys, will let you know how it goes, may have a feed at the track too. YUMMY.

Then you're familiar with the (probably bogus) Alexandria Town Talk headline:

"Waterproof Man Drowns in Dry Prong". :D

OK - I'm the dummy here.... How do you eat crawdads? Do you eat the whole thing like a soft shell crab or peel like ocean roach (shrimp)?

Oh - no racing here last weekend. Nice weather but the wife had a bad cold and both boys had ear infections.

I'm on vacation tomorrow - hope to load up and hit the Thursday Night T-N-T. I switched to serpent belt, threw on a Taurus electric fan, and did some carb tuning. I realized the other day that I still had a heavy secondary spring from the peg leg 3:00 rear days. I ended up lightening up 3 springs. The 4:56 revs just a tad quicker than the old 3:00. Keeping my fingers crossed for a sub 2.00 60':D

    Ok Cleaver,
Here is how it is done: first take the crawfish and pop the head off, place the front part of the tail (the one were you can see the meat) in your teeth, then take the end of the tail and pinch it between your thumb and index finger and work the meat out while pinching the end. You can either suck the head (if your into that) or just throw it away. If you try and peel the tails, it will end up being alot of work for you. A good crawfish conaseur can eat five to six to your one if you peel them. If you like them hot as I do you need to have a beer handy to place on your mouth (to cool it down) every so often. I'll be boiling about 150 pounds in a couple of weeks for a friends birthday party. Can't wait!!!:bananaman :bananaman
Thats all there is to it.

I learned something today. I've been to a couple of wild game feeds when I lived in West Virginia and sampled some odd stuff but never had any crawdads.

How do you catch 150 pounds? I guess maybe they grow a lot bigger on the Gulf Coast? That Creole seasoning would probably be good on crabs too. I can eat the heck out of them. Tomm, I know what you mean about laying a beer aginst your lips to cool them off.:p When I am having a tray of crabs I always like a grilled cheese sandwich or a baked potato to keep me from starving to death while I am picking crab.
