I recently lost the keys to my 71 Comet, sedan. I called the locksmith and he said he could make me a new key for 20.00 as long as the ignition key and Door key are the same. They are. I want to remove the door lock assy and reinstall to get the key.

I noticed my repair manual has nothing on removing the door locks. Any one know how to remove door lock assy's?

I look all inside the door and don't see anywhere where I can take out screw. What are the specific locations of the screws? Or do I just man up and yank it?

There are no screws, other than the window crank, and the chrome thingy around the door handle (behind the black plastic) and 3 in the arm rest, all the rest of the stuff is clips.

There is a sheetmetal clip the sandwiches between the lock cyl and door skin.Slip it off the cyl, disconnect the linkage rod from the back of the lock cyl and it will fallout in your hand with a little push.
