Hi All, Just got back from a car show (new Mav has 30 miles so far!) and the wife couldn't get her door open. I tried from outside with no luck. The button pushes in, but it seems the lock rod has fallen off. How can I get it open w/o removing the door panel? Can a slim jim still open it even if the rod clip is off? Russ
OK, my seats are only an inch or so from the door panel, so I guess I'll need to pull the seat out in order to pull the panel w/o ruining it... Russ
If you can hook the lock rod with a slim jim, then you might be able to get the door open. It's going to hit or miss, though. One way or another you still have to take off the door panel off to re-attach the lock rod.
Slide the seat forward...do rear half of panel...Slide it back and do front half of panel.Have you tried pulling up the lock button and cycling it up/down a few times?
I'd try this before you go tearing stuff apart, my passenger door sticks occasionally (car was parked for many years) and usually cycling everything will get it to pop open.
Well, I thought I did, but apparently not. That did the trick! Dunno how, but it worked. Thanks! Russ
