The funny thing is the Pedregon's would have done exactly the same thing as Force if they were in his shoes. Unless there is something in the rules that requires a competitor to put in a max effort on every pass, I say let the run stand. Cruz should be mad at himself. All he had to do is win one more round at any point over the last 16 races and this would not even be an issue.

BTW, Cruz did not deserve the champioship last year. Tim Wilkerson had that stolen from him by that gay "countdown to the championship" points reset.

Anyway, I have not watched much Top Fuel since they went to 1000'. Used to regularly attend the Gators but will never go to another one until they go back to 1320' w/o making further efforts to slow the cars down.

the whole problem here is money. the pendergons are loosing there sponcers so there stress levels are at the max. it would have been beter for them to have had both cars in the 10 to help attract new sponcers. im sure that was a large reason for there outbursts agianst force. force is now the big money guy in the game but i have respect for him because he earned it. he came from nothing and built his drag racing empire. he shouldnt have fallen for tonys s*** talk but tony did talk bad about his kid right befor the cameras got on them.

its not as fun to race against people who have more money than you. they will always have the best parts and technology. this season has be really hard on alot of teams and the stress has to realy high.

    :2cents:

I'm on the fence about how sincere Force was when he dramatically threw down his hat and challenged Pedregon to a fight (pa-leese).

I think most of it was for the cameras. I reference his statement earlier in the day, "you know I love these cameras" (or something to that effect).

I guess I likened it to the TV series that the Forces are (were?) in - drama to get attention, to be a commodity, to make more money.

I think NHRA didn't mind the outbreak either as it now has more people talking about the NHRA ("any press is good press") and it might bring about a few more ticket $ales when Force is on the roster.

I'm sure Pedregon was sincerely PO'd though. Only JF (and a few pit crew or family members) know for sure if he threw the race or not.

Personally, I think he intentionally threw the race.

I think so too, but as was said, that is business, and JF did what he thought best for his teams and his sponsors. Can't blame him for that, but throwing a race is bad stuff, no matter what the circumstances.

    How can you cheat?

Isnt it a "run what you brung" race. build the biggest engine and run it as fast as you can.. if ot sticks you win.. if it smokes you lose. plain and simple.

monitoring their data.. is total BS.. if you run a car and it gets out of the groove, how cah they san you cheated or threw a race,.

throwing a race? your kidding right.. who cares. maybe he wanted to be nice and let the other guy win.. maybe it was his/her birthday. maybe it was a gentleman's agreement.

Maybe it was also because it was HIS car and needed that win to get into the countdown. He definitely wasn't going to red light with that slow light and John was a .2 something light.:D

Or, just maybe, it was one of his team's car in the other lane that needed to win in order to make the final 10 - and that it would eliminate any chance of another opponent (Pedregon) from taking home the dough instead of his team.

    'Just a wild guess.

John said they both agreed to shallow stage to avoid a red light, this give a slow reaction time because the car has to roll some before it breaks the lights, also they all change the setup every race as the track and air changes, Force was screwed anyway he went there, if he would have altered the setup for air or track conditions the change would have thrown out a red flag, if he leaves it the same and the conditions had changed it throws out a red flag, I watch it all year and Force threw away several races ( smoked tires, got out of grove, etc) during the season, wonder who he was helping then, as for as the fans paying money to see racing I dont see any difference than a football team resting their starters the game before the playoffs if they are already in

That's the good thing about John Force....there's never a doubt about where he stands on any issue!

the way the race was thrown was with miss match tires in the rear. you run an extra pound of pressure in one tire the car will pull to one side driving it out of the groove and going into tire smoke. gee thats exactly what johns car did. oh and in the final race between ashley and robert. did anybody notice how roberts car blew up at half track. all he would have to do is pull the fuel shut off to do that. that way ashley gets her first indy victory. i suspect that you will see ashleys car be in the top of the race to the championchip till the end. if you pay atention the other 3 force cars will be used to clear the path for her.
