Are the 69.5 hood prop rods different from the 71-76's? (was it 77 that was also different?)
I have a hood that came from a 69.5 (from what I was told, maybe not?), and was going to install it on my 73, but it doesn't have the hole for the prop rod..?? Maybe it's just one of the later hoods, installed on this 69.5? If it is, I'll just toss it out then.

The 77s had the prop rod on the passenger side i think.

I have a 69.5 and I don't think my stock hood had a hole for the prop rod either. My hood doesn't go up high enough to use the prop rod hole in the hood anyway.

My '69.5 (built July '69) has the prop rod and hole in the hood for it..

'70 models (including 69.5) have the prop rod hole in the front structure part of the hood, 71-76 cars had it along the side (normally found), and '77 models were found on the passenger side battery apron

Thanks, so it is a 70 hood, it has 2 holes it the front, I guess I'll keep it for the day we get really fussy.

Some 1976 hoods have prop hoods on the side as well.

I've seen that too. I assume its related to the build date or plant?

Dave; I have a 69.5 prop rod, and I am using a '71 Grabber hood. Never had a problem. The hole on the drivers side keeps the hood where it should be, even though I bump my head on the latch all the time.

You can always tell a 70 hood because it does not have the diamond flare in the drivers side bracing. The diamond flair is to add clearance for the ac pulley on V8 cars, Since v8s was not available in 70, there was no flair. IT also takes a different prop rod. I cant remember which, but it curves the opposite way of the 71-75 rods. If you use the 71-75 rod, it can go all the way into the hole and dent the outer skin.

Hmmm, it doesn't have the diamond flare..I guess I'll have to oil it good, and put it in storage. I also found more 69 tailights in the bins of parts.

Is that always true? I have a Grabber hood without the diamond flare. It seems like I remember us talking about this before.

That also explains a prop rod I saw recently. It fit perfect, but was curved in the opposite direction. This was on a '75, so it didn't make sense to me.

Dont know about grabber hoods, I have also seen them with and without that diamond. But it should hold true for the flat hoods.
