New window and new rear view mirror.

I bought some of the rear view mirror glue and followed the instuctions on it. Wipe windshield with the chemical swab, wait 2 min put glue on metal tab, stick on window and hold, wait 15min before applying mirror. I actually waited until the next day to make sure the metal tab was solid. Each time when i put the mirror on it comes right back off. Any suggestions?

Get another kit and try it again. I have never had any luck on the second try with a used button. You are using a new button, and not trying to reuse the old one, right?

I'd done three mirrors with "VersaChem" kits and also a "Bullseye" chip repair kit. Never had a problem.

You should not have to sand the window, and glass shops can be a total rip off. Alcohol first, acetone second only if necessary to clean the window... wouldn't want to damage any coating the window might have on it.

The primer can sit on both surfaces for a while, but I've found that once you apply the adhesive it bonds permanently in a few minutes - I've held mine for maybe 2-3 minutes and thats it.

Sounds like you may have used faulty kits - people here tend to return packages sometimes and the store re-stocks them even though the "bubble" in the primer has been popped and renders the kit useless.

Recently, I just used a clear two part epoxy (3M) to fix a huge crack and re-mount a mirror at the same time. Seems to be holding. Stinks even worse, but I just applied it to both surfaces and stuck em together.
