Had a great car day today. Started off with a blast down the HWY to a car show in Paris(not the one in France) Almost 300 cars. Only took a few pics. Some nice cars but only a few really stood out. Had a great time checkin out the cars and spending a few hours on my car cleaning it installing my new antenna. HAd a lot of comments on the car. Especially on the paint. Actually got in a little arguement with one guy. He said I must have spent a lot of time polishing it. Told him that it hasnt been wet sanded or polished thats how it came out of the booth. He didnt believe it till my buddy came over and backed me up. My painter will be happy when I tell him that one. The Torino was perfect. 429 SCJ car. The Nova in the pic caught my eye cause its a sleeper. Didnt look like much till you see the fender badge. 502. The car with the Coca Cola trailer was painted at our shop as well. Wish the pic of the Firebird turned out. The guy who did the body with me, his best friend has a killer Firebird. Blown big block 725 HP, 5 speed full tubbed car. Just enough room between the rubber for the diff. This thing is an animal. Owned the car since high school in the 70's and just finished this latest transformation. Got some goodies and a nice dash plaque. Took the back roads home and the car ran perfect. Relaxed at home a few hours then had a nice steak dinner with the family then headed out in the car to a cruise night I hadnt been to in almost 20 years. Some nice cars and the Ford truck in the pics was really cool. He was in Paris and at the one I went to in the evening in Hamilton. 74 F250 Camper Special. 360. The tractors were on his color matched trailer to the truck. Very nice piece. The Mav attracted a ton of attention. Constant flow of on lookers and questions. Got myself another dash plaque and had a great time. What a day!!!!! Had more pics but the camera locked up and they didnt take. Technology. Comrick I took the dash plaque pics for you. I know you have a thing for them.
awesome!i went to the marigold all ford show.forgot my camera though.there was a yellow small bumper mav though.a perfect day for a cruise.
I found that strange as well for such a nice car. No hood prop. It did look like the car was just finished though. Maybe he hasnt found one yet??
Hey Darren, nice pictures, some cool cars indeed and that Torino is sweet. Wish i was there and LOVE the dash plaques (how did you know). It looks like it was a very cool show. I had a good day too at Summit Ford, i'll make another thread on that one. By the way we need to get together on the 27th of Sept for the Last Chance car show in Welland, one last southern Ontario Maverick / Comet get together for all the boys with Mavericks and Comet. If i recall last year there were 500 plus cars........... AND DASH PLAQUES TOO, HEE HEE HO HO. I think that Derek is going Larry wants to go I'm going with my beater baby My new friend Earl told me he may go if he can as he wants to meet you guys and see your Mavericks and Comets Maybe we can get Gord to tag along in his Mustang Hell i'll even try to get these two guys to come. So Darren you gotta come And you gotta pick up Zac too. One last Maverick/ Comet meet at the Welland Classic Car Show for 2009. Whatta ya think, eh?
Sounds like a great day. That is a nice Torino, too. It should not need a hood prop. The hinges have springs. Maybe the stick gets the hood to set up a bit higher, or perhaps it is insurance to keep the hood up (weak springs?). Was it a windy day? The hood latch on my Torino used to bite me in the top of the head every once in a while... just the right height if you are tall.
OK that makes sense. Didnt notice the springs. I would guess its extra insurance so the hood doesnt kill somebody. Maybe springs like you said.
