I tried to edit the original title of my other thread (Bringing one home), but it wouldn't let me. Soooooooooooo... I copied this from my other post and put it here. Well guys, here's the pictures as promised... Loading it up with the help of the Ward Family, a nice group of people I'm glad to call new friends! The Green Comet FINALLY made it to SC!!! At a rest stop, still on the road at 11 P.M. One more... Well, you guys DID ask for pictures! The hood is SHOT, the battery tray is rusted out, the left rear quarter needs both the lower skin and the inner trunk lower panel replaced, the right rocker panel is crunched by a floor jack, both bumpers are bent / rusty, and the tail light panel is bent. What's the good part? THE FRAME IS TOTALLY SOLID!!!! Seriously, the rest of the pictures are in my photobucket album: Click here to see the rest of the pictures. Thanks guys, It was a pleasant surprise to find the underside as clean as it is! Even the carpet is in decent shape. I originally purchased it as a parts car for the red one, but it's just too nice of a car to be getting cut up. The driver's side floor board may need work, but my feet didn't go through it when I got in the car. I know the window seals are shot and it wouldn't shock me if the cowl was rusty since the pictures in the eBay add had water in the floor. Trust me, I'm expecting to find more than that is needing replaced due to rust though. There is extra parts in the trunk, but I haven't gotten a chance to go through it yet. Either way, I think I got a good deal at $660.00! -Scott H.
Hmm just started thinking....its an awful lot of work you should probably part it out mostly only because I NEED that bumper..
Good luck with your new project. I understand you have the skills to make it a reality. Yesterday's dreams are today's realities. Jim
Thanks again guys, It's definitely going to be a project car instead of a parts car now. The left rear quarter, battery tray, and hood is the worst of the rust I have found so far. The hardest part right now is I'm going to have to let it sit. I have the knowledge, a good many of the tools, and the place to work on it, but not the ability because of the blown out disk in my lower back. It's like being a kid in a toy store but you can't touch anything because you don't have any money... I may not be able to work on my new toy, but I can sit in it and make Vroom Vroom noises! I think I'm going to go look at my Comet in the back yard even if I can't touch it... -Scott H.
