so i requested information on it and a guy wanted to talk to me about it in person...So before i "talk" to him (dont know if i will) ide like to know if anyone on here has been there or thought about it or has some info on it? cause i dont want to waist a trip to talk to a guy about something that could be a waist of time...Anyways, ya like above, anyone have any info on it? sorry if this is in the wrong section, the misc forum was pretty empty and thought it better to post here.
i have 2 friends that go there they sed that it's about $20,000 a class i think it's like 6 month's // and why they want to talk to you in person is to give you a tour of the place and talk about what you want to do in there program
thats a lot of money. The guy said he wanted to meet me in person (and parents) to go over everything, as in expenses and what ide like to do and all that. Ya i dont know though, seems iffy.
if your looking to be a general repair mechainc check your your comunity collage system to see if they have a auto technology program. if your looking to be involved in the hot rod or racing worlds then going to a specialty school will be beter.
ya im looking for something more than just a regular mechanic. And Jlkbrubaker, why was it a waist of time?
I knew half of the stuff they teach and the guy that came and talked to me lied to me. Said that it was mostly hands on and it was about 90% class time and 7% and then 3% time wasted. The very last reason is that they'll let anyone with the green go
i had a friend that went to S.A.M. (school of automotove machinests). it was really good. he leared alot about building motors. they also place alot of there student with jobs with nascar and nhra teams. when it comes to hot roding and custom cars or race cars, there are only realy three specialty areas that need specialized training on. first motors, second paint and body work, and third fabrication. going the schools that have hot rod program taged on to there general repair program is kind of a waste.
i graduated from there in march. I went to the Blairsville school. I learned a lot. But it did cost me a lot. almost 30k and sadly i cant find a job in that field. I cook and deliver pizzas at my friends pizza shop. What you should do is look for a more local tech school. cause you'll prob learn the same thing but way cheaper. Oh and dont believe the Rep that come and talks to you, hes most likely bsing you. Did it to me and all the guys i knew. any more question, hit me up
Truth. I experience the same thing. Most of it was class time even though they said it was split class/shop. What campus were you at? Blairsville, PA here. Graduated in '06.
well i dont think im going to sit down with the guy and talk it all out. Im going to research more schools like it and see which ones are better.
I visited a SAM school in Houston last month and bought a used transmission from one of the teachers. Definitely NOT just an auto tech school. There was nothing being assembled that was under 600 hp. Clean facility, and framed JEGS Engine Masters articles and awards everywhere you looked. I think Blown76's place is more like that.
you can try going to a dealership and ask about a job as a tech helper thats what i did, you learn stuff for free and you get paid
