Hey, you're close. That is the main harness to the EEC that I am using for my fuel injection. I extended the harness by splicing in wiring so I could mount the computer in the rear wheelwell. Too much other crap under the dash for it to fit there.
I've often wondered that myself. It's gotta be several pounds. I guess that's why I "needed" to upgrade to a 351 after the 302 died...to move around all that extra weight...
mashori, if you arent picky about color the black loom is available at home depot for about a 3rd the cost of through any parts dealer. they only have black though... mavmark, is there some place behind the headlight but in front of the plastic shield you could mount it? where did you end up moving it to?
The thing I spliced into was already an extension cable of sorts. It comes off a box I have installed that allows me to look at real time data from the EEC while the engine is running. At the time I didn't have a source for both ends I'd need to make a cable...and either way there was gonna be lots of soldering and shrink wrapping...so I just cut each wire in the harness one by one and added in an extension. Fortunately I even had some shielded wire for the ignition related wires. Hey, I'm no noobie when it comes to da wires.... To at least contribute to the main topic...the plastic wire looms, wire wrap and electrical tape do go a long way towards making the under hood stuff look better. I've got a ton of wires under there too...
If you are talking about the engine computer (EEC), there is some room to the left if the steering column, but I already have the box that allows me to view the real time engine data mounted there. I now have the EEC mounted in the space behind the plastic side panel on the driver's side of the rear seat. Lots of space in there.
